So as you can see I have been observing Jupiter this evening.
These pictures were taken by me with a cheap 6″ reflector and my HTC phone camera! As you can see the quality is poor! But as a beginner, isn’t that what we expect?
These images were much clearer through the lens so I strongly recommend getting out there with your own scope and take a look! For the record, using the help of Stellarium (see downloads), I managed to find the names of the visible satellites!
From left to right: “Ganymede”, “Europa” and “Callisto”. I was also able to observe “Lo” but unfortunately my camera just wasn’t up to the job!
