Hi I'm researching for a book and I was wondering what the two closest Galaxies to ours are

Well it completely depends on whether you are talking about "normal" galaxies or anything that can be discribed as one, such as Drawf Galaxies or Metallic Clouds.
Canis Major Dwarf is roughly 0.025 Million Light-years away and is the closest. Sagittarius Dwarf Sphr is 0.081Mly away.
Andromedia has always been considered the closest "Normal" galaxy to the Milky Way, interesting fact is that it is heading straight for us! and will eventually collide with the Milky Way.
